Start/generator double function system has become the tide of electric devices in advanced aircraft. Brushless Electro-magnetic Synchronous Machine(BESM) has been widely used in modern aircraft. If BESM can succeed in start the engine of the aircraft , it will be a competitive scheme as start/generator system because the wide application as generator in aircrafts will definitely decrease the risk and cost of research and development. Some research has been carried out on new start scheme after it was presented and some important useful results have been given. But research on course of start of BESM is still a vacancy. In this thesis, the MATLAB model of start of BESM is presented; Some key questions are found in start simulation, then corresponding solutions are presented. Three-phase excitation start scheme is researched. Based on its start simulation, a comparison is made between new start scheme and three-phase start scheme, which shows us their advantages and disadvantages separately. Research on conversion of BESM from electromotor to generator is carried out by a MATLAB model built, the conversion simulation is presented, in which the change course is observed detailedly. At last, an interface is built in order to encapsulation all the simulation model in start/generator double function system.
