On The Selection And Design From Perspective Of Feng Shui Of The Environment Of The Traditional Villages

The traditional Feng shui has accompanied Chinese traditional architecture for more than two thousand years; it has been practiced nearly all over site selection, planning, design, and construction. Today, we make a deep investigation into it with a scientific approach; it has important historic significance and realistic meaning.This thesis is composed by three parts.Part one mainly expands the historical development of Feng shui and domestic and international scholar's appraisal on it. We have thought that Feng shui was a general ideology that guided the environmental planning in ancient times without talking of superstition.Part two is the core and the key this thesis. It mainly analyses Feng shui' s influence on the choice and design of environment of the traditional villages. We have thought that it had a suit of the theory and methods which was relatively perfect. It was including the idea of Feng shui in the evaluation of natural environment surrounding the villages, the components of Feng shui space, the design of landscapes, and the design of water supplies and drainages.Part three, the last part, elaborates the theory of Chinese traditional Feng shui comes back and distils in 21st century. We have thought that it touches the question of how human beings conform to nature in future. It is exactly an important content that China structures "harmonious society" today.
