Study Of The Street Surface Of The North And South Street In The Ming City In Xi'an

The conservation of Ming city pattern and Important cultural relic is fruitful in the past work of historic city conservation in Xi'an. However, with the large-scale redevelopment in the Ming city, the city form which is the main content of Ming city historic relic has been demolished seriously and the historic character of Xi'an is evanescing. Consequently the conservation of Ming city become more and more important. At the same time, since the development of city is unavoidable, the question about how to preserve the Ming city in the process of urban development has been an extremely urgency.The thesis points out the historic street is the important part of historic city. The chang of Ming city form after reconstruct has been incarnated on street form, and the surface of street is the most intuitionistic incarnated of the street-form change. The thesis based on the analyse and evaluation of the surface to summarize the success and failing experiences during the street reconstruction, and then found out the deeply factor which influenced the change of the Ming city form. This can be used for reference for the reasonable reconstruct in Ming city.Furthermore, the basal theories which the thesis need to use in the research have been expatiated. The research measures drawn lessons from the typology theory. After defining the street surface, the concept of the street surface in the historical city has been put forward. Whether the street has historical characteristic has been an important criterion to estimate whether the it is suitable for the historical city or not.Thereafter the thesis analyse the current situation of North and South Street through the street lay and the surface lay. On street lay, the historical evolution, the utilize way, the land divide,and the street plane had been analysed. They are direct factors that influence the street surface and the change of these factors has caused the change of the street surface directly. On the surface lay, by analysing the surface material, color, outline, advertisement and green which were one parts of the street surface ,the North and South Street variation tendency have been summarized, and it has been pointed out that the change of the surface destroyed the the historical shape of the street seriously.The final part of the thesis is a comprehensive appraisement about the transform of North and South Street situation. In general ,the leading thought of construction of street scene after the 1980's was unfavorable to the protection of the Ming city. The thesis point out which thinkings of Xi'an old city protection are proved right ,which are wrong,and the foundation of street surface appraisal system is meaningful for controlling street construct activities.
