Study On Conservation And Utilization Of Historical Block Of Changxing Street In Guangzhou

This paper takes Changxing Street Block which locates at the northwest side of Beijing Road and ZhongshanWu Road in Guangzhou as a study object, probes the planning of historical-cultural city and the development and protection of the historic districts. Guangzhou is one of24historical-cultural cities which are foremost published by the State Council in1982. In Guangzhou there is a large number of historical-cultural heritage in the urban widely. And Changxing Street Block is the birthplace of commodity department store of South China in modern times, this block has witnessed Guangzhou’s economic-social development for a hundred years, which is of high research value.This paper takes a learn from the basic theory and practical experience about the utilization and protection of historical blocks at home and abroad, introduces the developing course and historical-cultural value of the Changxing Street, arranges and analyzes the findings of current Changxing Street, and points out the facing problems and contradictions in the process of protecting and developing, then combining the specific condition of the Changxing Street Block, the paper puts forward the relevant strategies and measures about how to protect and utilize the historical block, gives an expression of planning thoughts that tradition should be integrated into the city’s development, tradition and modernity should coexist in harmony, the true value of historical blocks should be reflected, and famous historical-cultural cities should be protected well. By means of practical research, the author takes a logical thinking of ask-analyze-solve question, does a deep research and analysis from four aspects of history, culture, planning and building to the best ideas of developing Changxing Street Block, that is to last the historical context and explore historical-cultural connotation of the block, at the same time coordinate many aspects of interests such as society, economy, and public, and positively integrate the tradition into Guangzhou’s development, so as to establish a distinct demonstration for the protection and utilization of historical block.
