With the acceleration of modernization course, the construction of water conservancy project goes into a new period. The traditional water conservancy of projects is changing into water conservancy of resources. The traditional projects management is changing into information management and digital management. With the start of the south to north water diversion project, the status of large pumping stations is more important among water conservancy projects. The primary tasks of modernizing large pumping stations are as following. The first is boosting the standard of flood control, irrigation and pumping in order to strengthen the ability of controlling natural severity. The second is improving the work surroundings and management conditions of pumping stations. However, the precondition is to make sure of the safety and reliability of the equipment of large pumping stations.At first, the dissertation analyzes the reliability of water supply and drainage regarding large pumping station system as a whole. Then it chooses the major pumping units and assistant units as the studying projects. And establish a mathematical model on reliability of pumping station system. Through analysis and calculation, we can get the reliability, usability, average life and so on. Major pump's faults are mostly due to deterioration and steam erosion. The primary problems of major electromotor are insulation aging and stator armature's serious damp. There are according calculation and detailed alteration measures of technology in the dissertation. In the study on reliability of assistant units, the method of Fault Tree Analysis is used. The dissertation chooses the fourth pumping station of Jiangdu as the studying project. Through the analysis of the working principle chart of water system, oil system and gas system, three according fault trees are set up. Then the key reason that causes the final fault of the system can be concluded through analysis of determining the nature. The fault probability of the system and the unit's essentiality can be got through quantifying analysis. In the repair of pumping station system, the concept that reliability is center is adopted. And the dissertation avoids the formulas that establish the preventive repair time or cycle of equipment. At the end of the dissertation, it gives some constructive advice on reliability management of large pumping stations.
