The conception of "Reverse Engineering " was born in 1960s. It is a general designation of digital technique and geometric prototyping technique which are both relevant to the technology of converting an object into an engineering design data. For the requirement of productivity development, "Reverse Engineering " has been widely used in more and more fields.In the field of ship design and building, data acquisition and alteration of ship model concerns the design work of new type ship very deeply. On the other hand, in modern dockyard, the data of ship components should be acquired, backup and managed. These tasks belong to the category of "Reverse Engineering " and concern the core technique of "Reverse Engineering ": Data Acquisition and Processing very deeply.Along with the evolution of digital image and graphics processing technique, 3D vision measuring is being more and more widely used by it's marked merit of quick measuring, computer-basing, no touching on the object and general-service. Gradually, it is becoming one of the most important methods of data acquisition.Using the Data Acquisition and Processing technique which is based on 3D vision measuring in the field of ship design and building will ameliorate the efficiency greatly, at the same time it will show "Reverse Engineering " as a pioneer method in this field.The new method of using Wavelet Transform Theory in the image processing technique is a way with better prospect. And using this method in the 3D vision measuring technique will ameliorate the old technique of this domain.Digital image and graphics processing, the calibration of 3D vision measuring system and image matching are the key techniques of Data Acquisition and Processing, at the same time they are the most difficult techniques problems hat need to be solved accurately. Aim at these problems, thefollowing article focus on the study of ship model and components Data Acquisition and processing and the achievements are: Take the lead in presenting the conception of ship model and components Data Acquisition and Processing based on 3_D vision "Reverse Engineering ". Using Wavelet Transform Theory and 3D vision measuring system to design and program, the feasibility was proved out by the experiment. The valuable results embodied by the image processing program (based on Wavelet Transform Theory); efficient calibration method and program of 3D vision measuring system; and mathematic model of image matching. The following article did foundation work for the domain of ship model and components "Reverse Engineering ".
