Water resistance test of diesel locomotives forms an important and regular procedure, which reveals the performance of the locomotive after it has been manufactured, overhauled or repaired. Water resistance test is to simulate various working condition of the locomotive with water resistance as load, to test some parameters such as output voltage, electric current and power of the main generator and rotational speed of the diesel engine and so on, to processs the results of test, to judge the working condition of the locomotive and to check the assembled locomotive for meeting the design requirement according to the results. By water resistance test, relevant parameters of the locomotive can be ensured for correct assembly, reliable movement as well as operating safety.This thesis makes meticulous analysis and discussion to the project "The reform in diesel locomotive water resistance computer-aided testing system" of Luoyang Locomotive Factory on the basis of on-the-spot investigation and information analysis. Then it puts forward the general development design for the water resistance test system of diesel locomotives, which considers various kinds of locomotive types, advanced automation, kinds of parameters and test types, and fault dealing methods. On this base, the hardware design, software design, system installation and debugging are completed.The hardware of the test system consists of operating platform, data-collection and COM interface communication. Among them, data-collection is the most important part as well as the interface between the system and the tested object (locomotive). Data-collection system mainly consists of sensors, digitals, interface board and IPC. Its main task is to measure all status parameters of various working conditions. So its quality determines the system's precision and success or failure. In this thesis, the selection rules of parts are analyzed and stated. The working principle of hardware and design idea are introduced.The system's software contains 4 main menus such as TEST, PRINT, SCAN and False Processing. The software has functions of selecting different locomotive types, selecting different test, data collection and processing, responsive communication, query and printing of test result, false processing ect.Through the analysis of the reliability and application on the spot, the study makes a system which has characters such as comprehensive functions, simple operation, safe, reliable, easy and handy. It improves the automation-degree of water resistance test, reduces personal influence, raises the precision of parameters, makes full use of test results and relieves hard manual labor. It achieves obvious technological effects and beneficial result, makes a comprehensive application value and generalizing value. To a certain extent, this system represents the development direction of water resistance of diesel locomotive.
