The technology of remote fault diagnosis of mechanical equipment based-on internet is a new technology, which develops with the quick development of network.It is the integration of tranditional fault diagnosis technology, computer science and communication technology. The structure of automobile is more and more complex. There are more and more application of electronic technology in automobile. So it is more and more difficult for fault diagnosis of automobile engine. With the quick development of remote fault diagnosis based-on internet all over the world, it is easy to carry out remote fault diagnosis of automobile engine based-on internet. Remote fault diagnosis of automobile engine combines tranditional fault diagnosis of automobile engine with modern network technology.It will greatly improve the level of the maintenance and fault diagnosis of automobile engine with the application of Remote fault diagnosis system of automobile engine. So the application of Remote fault diagnosis system of automobile engine based-on internet becomes more and more important for diagnosis of automobile engine.It is analysed that the function demand of remote fault diagnosis system of automobile engine based-on internet, and the structure and general planning are investigated. After a detailed comparison is made between Browser/Server and Client/Server, a new mixed model of C/S and B/S for remote fault diagnosis system of automobile engine is brought out.Local fault diagnosis sub-system is based on C/S structure, and remote fault diagnosis system is based on B/S structure.The technology of hybrid program among vb, matlab and sql server 2000 is discussed. The design method of local fault diagnosis sub-system based-on C/S structure is introduced with the integration of hybrid program technology and artifical neural network. An example of individual version for local fault diagnosis sub-system (MDS2004)is put forward in detail, including data acquisition model, signal processing model and fault diagnosis model.The key technologies and their applications are introduced detailedly such as ASP, Web-Database, ActiveX and Matlab Web Server technology. What's more, onthe basis of the technology, remote data acquisition model, remote signal processing model and remote fault diagnosis model is realized. So remote fault diagnosis system is set up.Finally, a test for the system has been done on an automobile engine with the use of campus net. The result of the test is great perfect, so remote fault diagnosis system of automobile engine base-on internet has a highly practical value.
