With road mileage increasing in our country, the deteriorating of asphalt pavement such as cracking, rutting and pumping is greater. The phenomenon of initial damage of pavement in China indicates that heavy load and bad interface conditions are the main reason of directly damage of pavement. The object of this paper is to analyze the effects of interface conditions, load magnitude and reflective cracking on pavement structure by FEA techniques.Firstly, the contact theory and the method of solving nonlinear equations are summarized. Based on the finite element method, the element stiffness matrix for each element is set up. Secondly, the axis-symmetry model is simulated to analyze the effects of interface conditions, load magnitude and other parameters on asphalt pavement structure. As a consequence, when interface between layers is unbonded, the tensile stress at the bottom of surface layer is large enough to cause cracks to propagate to the surface. The effect of horizontal load on pavement structure in depth is finite, mainly in the range of top of surface layer. The heavy load can make great press on pavement, and rut formation of the road is easily under heavy loads.Thirdly, the linear fracture mechanics method based on the 2-dimensional finite element method were used to analyze the factors influencing the origination and propagation of reflective cracking in asphalt pavement under transportation loading. The theoretically analytical results imply that the effects on preventing the origination and propagation of reflective cracking by providing geogrid between the surface and base layer are effectively.
