Fault information processing system for power grids is an integrated platform toreceive, manage, analyze fault information, and can assist dispatchers to diagnose faultscorrectly, handle faults in time and evaluate the action of relays and recorders. Theestablishment of it can greatly improve the power grids' stability, so its research couldproduce significant economic and social benefit. At present, most dispatch centers have built fault information processing systems,which realize the transmission and management of fault information, and some simple dataanalysis. These systems enhance the automation level of managing and analyzing faultinformation, however, there are still some limitations in them, such as: the lack ofcomprehensive data analysis, the low level of fault information integrative utility and thedeficiencies of fault diagnosis method. To solve these limitations mentioned above, this thesis devotes to the implementationof fault information processing system for power grids and research of some importantproblems for development. Firstly, based on the analysis of the characteristics anddeficiencies of the present fault information systems, the architecture of fault informationprocessing system and the hardware composing of sub-station and master-station areproposed, especially the master-station system is described in detail, including its designgoal, main structure and function division. In the aspect of system's implementation, thispaper presents the issues of real-time data platform and communication strategy ofmaster-station. The data platform chooses Main Memory Database as its data processingcore, and the issues of physical storage organization and index structure of this core areemphasized as well. The communication in master-station is implemented basing on UDPprotocol. In the end, the fault diagnosing method is studied, and a hierarchical diagnosingmethod is brought forward, which firstly uses breaker information to find out the fault areas,and then applies relay and record information to confirm the fault device in these fault areas.
