| Shortage of water resource and water pollution are becoming serious problems in nowadays society. The water supply processing technology is more and more important, and is undergoing a rapid growth.. Guiyang Northern Suburb Water Works is much typical with regard to lack of water in urban areas, processing technologies and environment protection etc. So, a study is made to this project. This thesis focuses on the current water supply ability, present water supply situation, and short term & long term water demand forecast of Guiyang. Then why it is necessary to construct Northern Suburb Water Works will be illustrated, and finally there is a detailed illumination about the main components of the whole project. This project consists of reservoirs(including dams), water intake pumping stations, pipe laying, water purifying plant, tunnels and caves, adjustment cisterns, hydraulic stations ect. When building the dams, new technology of mixing MgO continuously and rapidly was adopted. When build the Water purifying works, horizontal flow sedimentation tanks and air/water backwash filters were combined to be used. The main facilities are to be imported with full automatic control. Making the full use of height difference, the whole water supply system supply water to urban areas with full gravitation, thus electricity is saved. High elevation clear water tank and low elevation clear water tank are built in order to supply water to users in different height, pipes and networks are more safer, distances between pipes are shortened, and cost has been saved. Based on above stated, I think the project of Guiyang Northern Suburb Water Works are with unique construction, so I will make a brief illustration, and I will analyze them one by one, giving my own personnel understanding and thought. This project is an example of current water supply technology in China. Now we suffer the lacking of the water resource and high cost of water supply, we must try every effort to economize water.
