It is a platform that integrates the information and also a system engineering whose implement affected by various factors. As the absolutely necessarily part of PDM, the quality of coding directly affects the system run-time efficiency. The traditional coding mostly aims at handwork operations without fully considering the characteristic of computer information management. The low efficiency or adoption of fixed length and structure can often cause coding polymorphism and confusion.Under the environments of information development and mass customization in enterprise, it requires unified and standardized information coding so as to reduce the repeated collection, process and storage of information, eliminate the misunderstand and divarication that caused by variance of information naming, description, classification and coding, ensure the information reliability and applicability, facilitate the information share and integration among various information system in the enterprise, at the same time solve the information exploding in mass customization of product supply chain, realize information share and integration of various systems.At present, many PDM research can offer coding management function, of which there are less study about MC-oriented coding management. From the point of product data management and taking the characteristic of mass customization intoaccount, this paper brought out a flexible coding system structure based on foreground and background technology according to practical demands of manufacturing; And based on these, adopt character-oriented, layered and flexible information classification coding structure in foreground codes technology; at the same time, study the MC-oriented information coding method of PDM, which considers each tache of product lifecycle and adopts flexible multi-coding parallelism structure; Aiming at the quick response of mass customization, some useful research and study are also done in the field of MC-oriented coding method and coding technology based on rationalization engineering.
