Computer Aided Process Planning is one of the important contents of modern planning method. This subject, in view of the practice of Shenyang Heavy Mechanism Manufactory, considers comprehensively the advancing and applying of the system, combines the Variant pattern and Generative pattern of CAPP planning method and meanwhile applies artificial intelligence ideas, develops comprehensive CAPP system directed against non-rotating machine part which is widely applied in Heavy Mechanism Manufactory, thus shortening the period of product designing, saving manpower and material resources, and greatly promoting labor productivity, at the same time, bridging CAD and CAM to realize integrated production of computers.This article mainly introduces the following contents:It systematically introduces the development of CAPP in domestic and abroad nowadays and the development of its supporting theory and technique, it plans the whole structure of the system, analyzes the feasibility and meanwhile introduces the specific function of respective functional module of the system.It sets forth the importance of data base in CIMS, introduces briefly the general procedure of data base planning, it establishes the system data base for Heavy Mechanism Manufactory in view of the practical needs of its CAPP which includes craft rules data base, process remaining choice data base, machine tool choice data base and so on.It classifies and codes the products basing on the characteristic of the manufactory.lt briefly introduces the export system and the indicating ways of knowledge in the system, assessing standard and reasoning of knowledge indicating ways, it also emphatically introduces the indicating way of generative pattern and its system.It sets forth the nature and introduces the way of craft decision, and realizes the adjustment of craft rules through relevant calculation, the obtaining of process remaining, and the choice of machine tool to fulfill ultimately the craft decision process.ltintroduces the basic concept and the classification of computer network and the variation of computer network topology structure.It sets up network CAPP system directed against the practice of Heavy Mechanism Manufactory.
