CAPP is a bridge between the CAD and CAM, and is a key of informationintegration and sharing in each part of CIMS. In this paper, the study of the WebCAPPis focused on the information model, database design, Technology Decision andanother key technology. The main contents and results are as follows:Discusses the CAPP system development course, current status of CAPPresearch and existing problem, and its development, then the author proposes CAPPsystem of machine element based on the Web.Combined with the tendency of networking in CAPP system, this paper analyzesthe structure of the CAPP system and its basic components, and discusses the workingprocess of the system.Proposes information description method for machine element based on featureand object orientated to information descriptions of CAPP, which is based on theinformation description method, feature modeling technology and object-orientedtechnique.System database applies the XML database, puts forward the database systembased on the XML, completed the EE-R mode of system database and the design ofthe database table.Combined with the expert system, applying rule representation based onknowledge, proposed technology decision based on expert system. The details on thebasic structure of expert system, rule representation based on the knowledge,establishment and implementation of process knowledge base.Designed the CAPP system of machine element based on the Web. Discusseswork patterns, development environment and key technology of the system. Given aspecific work interface and introduced working process of working module, validatedwith concrete facts.
