With the great improvement of people's living conditions in China, the healthy and comfortable indoor environment also becomes people's intensive requirement. However, as the refurbishment becomes more complex and luxury, it also causes serious pollution in indoor environment, which is much worse than ever before. The problem of indoor poulltion arouses public attention.The Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) is mainly affected by thirties kinds contaminations. In residential buildings, the main pollutants consist of HCHO, PM10 and TVOC. Long since, people only concentrated on the factors influencing people's feel of comfort. They rarely care about indoor air pollution. In that case, this paper takes the existing buildings (including public building and residential building) as its investigating objects, carries out the objective measurement of the main pollutions and finally makes the analysis and evaluation of the IAQ.The investigation is implemented through objective measurement and subjective questionnaire survey. The investigating objects are the existing buildings located in north, south, east and west city zones in Xi'an. The parameters measured consist of HCHO, TVOC, PM10, noise and the physical ones consist of indoor temperature, relative humidity and atmosphere. We collect the basic data of the existing building's indoor environment and carry out the subjective questionnaire survey. Based on them, the factors affecting the concentration of indoor pollutants (including indoor temperature, refurbishment completion time, air velocity and height) are analyzed, the correlative formulas are studied out, the primary evaluation about the IAQ in these buildings are carried out, and the comparison between Xi'an and other cities in China is made. This work will give the first hand data for practice in improving IAQ in Xi'an, and it may offer reference to design HVAC and do refurbishment in China.
