Study On The Historical And Cultural Sign System Of Xi'an City

As the champion among the seven ancient Chinese cities and one of the state level protected areas of Famous Historic Culture Cities, Xi'an had served intermittently as the capital of thirteen dynasties. It attracts people all over the world with rich cultural heritages. Through the investigation, we noticed the heritages had suffered destruction and died out because of many reasons that destroied the style and features of the ancient city. The city is losing its memory. After the analysis, we found the key problem is people lack the comprehensive and right understanding of the history and culture of Xi'an city. So the thesis puts forward the historical and cultural sign system of Xi'an city to guide people understand the history and culture of the city comprehensively and correctly, improve the present situation of a large number of heritages died out, regain the memory of the city, and make progress of the protection of the Famous Historic Culture City of Xi'an.The thesis centres on the study of the construction modle of the historical and cultural sign system, starting with defining the concept of the historical and cultural sign of cities and the historical and cultural sign system of cities, basing on the classification and summarization of the historical and cultural sign existing and analysing and studing on the relative theory, by means of the induction and classification of characteristics of the heritages, with the frame of system theory, in the light of the corresponding relationships. Finally it constructed the frame of the historical and cultural sign system of Xi'an city according to the historical sequence and cultural characteristics of the historical and cultural heritages of Xi'an city.
