Study On The Administrative Buildings Design Of Universities

The university is the creator and spreader of human civilization, and also is the masters' cradle. The managers of university administration make efforts on allotting, organizing and using the limited education resources reasonably and fully, and realize the university spirit in the end. The role and position of the administration of higher school are changed along with the varieties of the education mechanism and management system. Now the university administration emphasizes the function of supporting, serving and moderating the teaching and research, furthermore, it pays attention to building a good platform between the campus culture and university education. The campus and mansions embody universities' spirit directly. In recent years, because of the universities system reformation, there have been great changes in universities, such as the enrollment expansion and merger of universities, the changes of the management system, structure levels and pedagogy of universities, as well as the school rebuilding, extending and new campus planning, all are bringing us the new problems and new concepts. The university administrative buildings have become a typical kind of architecture in the campus just because of the characteristic of their users. Accompanying with the changes of the management function, the administrative buildings of university change their roles from the administration center to the service center, and become a hinge terrace among the teachers, the students and the society. Its form is also changed from the introvert single closed space to the extrovert multi-direction open space.Based on such a social background, the writer made an investigation, research and analysis on the administrative buildings of universities. And then the administrative buildings of universities are going to be discussed mainly from three parts.Firstly, we can generalize the evolution of the administration systems (modes) of universities from the history of the universities in the world. Meanwhile, from the full explanations of some concepts, such as what university is and what the management is, we can clarify the essence and mission of universities and their role position in the society. We are also clear about the functions of administrative management, the characteristics of administrators and their roles in the university.Secondly, from the discussion of modern higher education concepts and the theory of university campus planning, the article is going to induce the present conditions of theadministrative buildings, such as the varieties of the name and the position of administrative buildings in the campus planning and administrative buildings organization modes.In the last part, first, the article studies the architecture cultural background, the campus environment and the campus culture creation in order to explain and analyze the "alienation" phenomena of the administrative buildings' forms at present in some campuses. Next we analyze the administrative buildings from the plan, dimensions, color and so on. Some viewpoints are elaborated on the location of the administrative buildings and construction of the buildings environment. Finally, from the different types of the real examples, the writer is discussing how to design better the administrative buildings in the new circumstances.
