A Study On The Modern Educational Building Of Henan University (1915-1936)

In end of the Qing dynasty, the government proclaimed "new policy", abolished imperial examination system for one thousand years, changed academy of classical learning into new school, so is the end of Chinese traditional education system. In China some modern universities appeared one after another, which are precursors of some present universities, and also shows the beginning of modern higher education. During the education reform in early last century, the precursors of Henan University set up on the foundation of Henan examination hall.Henan University, the epitome of modern higher education in Henan province, was influenced by special regionalism and personalities of various circles in Henan province. The evolution of Henan University went with modern city transition of Kaifeng. Campus planning of Henan University drew on experience of traditional overall arrangement characteristic of academy of classical learning. During the study, I found out that the concrete planning tactics, which were used for example: main building in Chinese traditional buildings designed between two parties, organization and modulus control axis ,etc. The modern educational building of Henan University has drawn lessons from Chinese traditional architectural style, according to concrete function, space, planning, gone on creative organization, the architectural design has reached quite high level. The modern buildings of Henan University are regarded as the Key Cultural Relic Unit under State Protection of Henan Province, respected of educating in history and culture, scientific art and politics educating etc. has important value. Concrete protection and development tactics should be made according to the characteristic of the modem educational building of Henan University.This text regards the modern educational building of Henan university as the research object, from the state of development of modem advanced education, the modern city transition of Kaifeng, such respects as the relation, planning, single architectural design of campus between Henan university and city ,etc, draws campus evolutionary law , campus planning and single architectural design and methods to protect.
