Hohhot is the center of politics, Economies and cultures as the capital of Inner Mongolia autonomous region with long history. Baotou is the biggest city and the center of business in Inner Mongolia. As a district of living minority community, it is the multi-nationality city that is developed from minority Mongolia city. Therefore they have the unique features. In the process of Hohhot and Baotou latter-day times, the effect of external culture is evident. Except for the Mongolian culture, the two cities are influenced by the cultures of Tibetan, Han nationality, Manchu nationality and Islam in the different degrees. After Opium Wars, China became semi-colony and semi-feudal society and the Christian religion was spread abroad widely inland, so the Chinese traditional culture was impacted by western culture significantly. This impact was influenced on the Chinese traditional architecture greatly. The great influence of religion cultures on the social culture in a special historic area and architecture culture are common in some coastal and inland cities. The buildings in Hohhot and Baotou were impacted and influenced during the Christian spreading period and lasted up to now. This influence includes some aspects, such as architecture concepts, content, forms, methods, material and construction technologies, etc, of which the westernized style of architecture, abundance of architecture types and new construction material and technology application are the key features in recent buildings of these two cities influenced by Christian culture. The recent buildings of Hohhot and Baotou went through four stages, i.e. arising, following, developing and stagnating, of which following period last long and following method are used widely. This period went through the whole Republic of China. The typical architecture samples are churches and other culture architecture built within the spread period of the Christian in Hohhot and Baotou. The paper used Hohhot and Baotou as well as surrounding area as research objects. The certain buildings were surveyed and took pictures on site and the important buildings were plotted referring to historical map, annals of local history and relative literature. On basis of above information, historical buildings and recent buildings were surveyed and researched in these two cities. With the continuous development of economy and the large-scale construction of the cities, old districts of the cities were redeveloped and reused. Because the consciousness of protection of the cultural relics is weak in these two cities, a number of historical buildings were dismantled and recently historical culture building has been on the verge of extinction. However, these existing recent buildings an organic part of the cities. They reflected that people pursued science and culture in that historical period, and also reflected the historical honor or disgrace which left to later generations thinking. They played an important role to modern cities. Accordingly, with the mature theoretical guidance, the protection and reuse strategies and feasible plan for existing recent buildings are addressed on basis of specific history and current situation of the cities and regions. These information are necessities for studying buildings, cultures and history of the cities.
