In this paper, firstly, the meaning of old bridge strengthening, the technology of bridge detecting and the principle of old bridge evaluation were introduced. As well as the international conditions of related methods, technics and the practical applications were briefly narrated. And then the author's study.Based on the currently existed disease and carrying capacity problems of Dangjiang bridge in Hepu Guangxi, Firstly the design loads of coping, main beam and pier column were calculated by traditional methods, from which the main reasons of crack forming of the bridge were fixed on. Then one of the finite element analysis software, ANSYS was used in this paper for mechanical analysis. The results were compared and then the strengthening design was made. According to the current traffic status of the bridge, the load criterion was improved from V-15, T-80 to V-20, T-100. After consulted with the client, a new strengthen method, the bonding of TYFO Fibrwrap advanced composite material was involved . Compared with the traditional T-girder strengthening methods such as bonding of steel plate, section augment, external prestressing etc. the method is superior at high intensity, light weight, eroding resistance, convenience and rapidness of construction, curing free, noisefree and form maintenance, Then the economic and social benefits are significant.This paper not only has the theories signification but also has the practical value, and offers some valuable data for other homogeneous engineering.
