As a newly developed optimization algorithm, the genetic algorithm (GA) is derived from evolutionism based on genetic selection and nature elimination of Darwin ism and genetics. This bionics arithmetic can solve non-linear constraints problems and the optimization of discrete variables better, and it doesn't require prior knowledge of the problem and has the advantage of simple program and compatible for scientific computations, and so it is a ideal algorithm for structure design optimization. But traditional genetic algorithm is good at global-searching, but short at partial-searching, and only suitable for discrete variables.Finite Element Method (FEM)is a kind of modern calculation method developed with technology of computer and often used to structure analysis. The soft of ANSYS is invented by SASI company and known as the most famous soft of structure analysis. At the same time , it consistently adopt the last output of calculation mechanic and the technology of computer, as a result it always in the position of leader in the field of FEM.If not recur to finite element method software when we optimize complex structure, but compile the finite element method analyzing program alone, sometimes it would be very difficult, or even impossible.So, for some point, structure design optimization is to integrate finite element method with mathematics layout. All optimization algorithms (including genetic algorithm), want to be widely used in structure design optimization, must combine with finite element method. Through APDL language, all optimization algorithms combined with finite elementmethod analyzing program---- Ansys is proved to be successful, and thismethod has wide application foreground and development potential.This paper coded based on floating-point real number, improves the fussy of binary system of traditional genetic algorithm, combined theimproved genetic algorithm with finite element method software---- Ansysrecurred to APDL language, compiled optimization programs, remedied the shortcoming of optimization algorithm of Ansys. During writing the program, this method gives the analysed results through finite element method, defines the constraints functions, avoides rewrite finite element structure analyzing programmes. By contrasted with traditional genetic algorithms, we can see that this method expedites constringency speed, remedies the shortcoming of prevenient algorithms, and improves effectively and precision of traditional algorithms.Finally, the superiority of this method was validated through a twelve-pole plane truss structure, and the result was contrasted with the traditional one. The expectation of all optimization algorithms integrate with finite element method was also given.
