Mass Customization (MC) aims at providing customized products with efficiency and cost of mass production. It's a customer-centered producing strategy providing varieties of product to meet customer requirements. Product Configuration (PC) in Mass Customization plays an important role in managing product data, reusing existed resources, and improving customized products' developing ability and efficiency. The knowledge reuse on product configuration can accelerate product configuration speed greatly. This thesis focused on the theory and implementation methods of PC for household electrical appliance in Mass Customization.The main research contents in this thesis include:The product configuration process model based on knowledge has been researched, together with the whole configuration process from the acquisition of user's demand to the mapping of user's demand characteristic and output of the product configuration results, configuration repository, model repository and the rule repository in the process of product configuration has been studied in this product configuration model.The design and demand characteristics of household electrical appliance have been studied. The XML-based ontology expression methods have been investigated, many kinds of ontology for expressing household electrical appliance have been given, including product component ontology, product structure node ontology, configuration rule ontology, configuration instance ontology.Based on network and ontology technologies, the product knowledge model acquisition frame is constructed, and assurance mechanism of semantic validity is proposed.
