With more and more atmosphere pollution being caused by the exhaust of automobile, more appeals are made to improve the environmental protection by many governments all over the world. Since 1990's all kinds of electric automobiles appeared, however, the technology of battery blocked the development of electric automobile. Then they cannot take place of the automobile driven by fuel oil engine in the near future. So engineers developed an automobile driven by Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV). It means that the battery-electromotor system will offer a part of power that was once entirely provided by oil engine. These two systems working together will reduce the pollution produced by oil engine and enhance the whole drive capability of automobile. At present the research and design of HEV is on the start stage in the domestic. The First Automobile Work Group (FAW) is now investigating and manufacturing a new kind of bus equipped with HEV. The HEV is very intellectual and transmits complex information, so it is not appropriate to display these data with traditional instruments for it not only will increase cost but also have inconvenience in use. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a new system of motormeter based on the structure of HEV. The motormeter based on CAN of the HEV in bus has CAN interface which can directly get information from the CAN of automobile and display different information based on its function on LCD. Moreover, concise charts and dynamic curves are provided to display explicitly many changing parameters on LCD. With carefully analyzing final demand and learning from the first generation the motormeter, we made a whole consideration to the overall plan and the choice of the component.
