In recent years, the development of DSP technology has put the DSP-based image processing system can be applicable immensely. The importance of non-connected detection was enhanced increasingly in the catenary detection. A study of the application of DSP technology to catenary dynamic image data acquisition system is made and an image data acquisition system which key image processor is TMS320C6205 manufactured by Texan Instrument Company is developed in the thesis.The project of hardware design of the system is provided through the study of the characteristics of DSPs chips and the software and hardware development flow of DSP-based system. The function of image data trigger, sampling, real-time processing and data transmission are integrated into single-PCB in hardware of the system. The image data acquisition and data buffer action are implemented by SAA7113H, FIFO and CPLD. DSP is used to dispose and analyze image data and the result is transmitted to upper PC through the PCI bus. High capacity FLASH and SDRAM are used in hardware design for operating the secondary development to improve the system's extended functions. The corresponding driver module and buffer module are appended in the route of data flow to avoid data conflict and ensure data integrality.The software modules which run in DSPs chip achieve the operation and disposal about image data and control the data flow. The CPLD is programmed to achieve Ping-Pong data buffer action in the way of finite state machine by Verilog HDL. The driver of PCI bus in Windows is developed by VC++ and some other tools. It provides interface with application program in upper computer.After DCT the system can achieve the original data compression through quantification and encoding. The edge detection by using Sobel detector is processed. In the detection of motion objects, a method based on movement feature of target (catenary) is proposed. It combines temporal differential method and template matching in image sequence data.
