Research On Material Expression In Architecture Creation

At the beginning of this thesis,the author elaborated the importance of material expression in a viewpoint of the combination of art and technology.The elaboration begins with some defects in current architecture design in our country in contrast to some good experience of foreign architects.The visual characteristics of material (including shape,color,sense of quality) are analized firstly,combined with visual-perceptual psycological theories and laws of architecure aesthetics,then the principle of material expression is established ,which can b e summarized as "to be true,to be beneficial and to be beautiful),and also the content is defined as the complexity of expression of material detail ,material combination and material structure,which is elaborated separately in Chapter 3 to Chapter 5. Constructing crafts and characteristics connected with the expression of specific building material,such as brick,stone,concret, wood,glass and metal are included in the analysis.In addition,pictures of good examples are used to make the analysis more deep-going and more practical.Facing problems of architectural locality,which is concerned by all over the world,in Chapter 6 ,the author analized some methods to create locality in two aspects.One is connected with its natural meaning,the other is connected with the cultural meaning.Sense of the times is highly emphasized here.Echological building is an irreversible and historic trend now,and an echological building naturally has its special characteristics in choosing or using material.In Chapter 7,the author analized these new characteristics briefly,pointed out the way for future research and gathered some basic ideas also.
