Development And Application Of Project Pavement Management System Based On GIS

Pavement management system is an efficient tool that help highway administrative department to make full use of limited resources, in the hope of providing proper service level of road surface for road users. Pavement management system is usually divided into two general levels: network and project. This paper mainly studies project pavement management system and its main contents include database management system, pavement performance prediction, pavement life cycle cost analysis and pavement geographic information system.In the database management system module, because database management system is the foundation of pavement management system, so in order to establish a practical management system, mass data is needed. On the basis of analyzing a great variety of data information, the database of project pavement management system is established on the principle of establishing database. In pavement performance prediction module, pavement performance . prediction is one of most important contents of project pavement management system and for establishing practical prediction models, we should acquaint with the characteristics and accommodation limits of all kinds of pavement performance prediction models. In all prediction models of pavement performance, mechanistic-empirical model has sufficient theoretical basis and reflects in various degrees changing essence of functional performance,which has well extrapolation and high accuracy. This paper summarizes in detail research findings at home and abroad for the sake of laying some foundations for further research. In pavement life cycle cost analysis module, this paper has analyzed components of cost and typical analytic method of life cycle cost analysis, and life-cycle cost models of asphalt pavement and cement concrete pavement have been established. In the pavement geographic information system module, this paper has introduced the fundamental principles and functions of geographic information system, constructed all sorts of entity models, explained design methods of spatial data and data construction, introduced the fundamental principles of dynamic segmentation and its application in project pavement management system, and analyzed the method of secondary exploitation of the software with ARC/INFO.At last, this paper has built a project pavement management system based on geographic information system for the segment from Chuanzhusi to Langmusi of Nation Highway 213, and also summarized the components and functions of this system.
