For a long time,the construction of hydraulic and hydropower engineering has been characterized with large scale,long period,huge investment,complex techniques and professional skills,complex management,and difficult coordination.Due to the need to face large amounts of complex and highly fragmented information,each phase in the construction cycle requires effective communication and information sharing.However,the current methods of management in the entire industry is still comparatively extensive,lacking in effective coordination,with low level of business informatization and less popularity in advanced technologies,which result in schedule delays and cost overruns and also turn into a restriction to the promotion of the overall management level of the industry.Meanwhile,applying advanced Information and Communication Technology(ICT)is recognized as the most effective way to improve this phenomenon.The advent of the BIM,which is characterized by the information management in the entire life cycle of construction projects,provides an advanced digital tool and information-sharing platform for the stakeholders of hydraulic and hydropower projects as well as a new method for the implementation of integrated and collaborative project management.Based on this,this paper studies the BIM-based collaboration platform for the management of hydraulic and hydropower projects in several aspects,using various theories and technical methods.The main research contents and achievements are as follows:(1)Based on the characteristics of the hydraulic and hydropower projects,the BIM-based collaborative work and management system is established.Firstly,detailed analyses on organization modes,methods architecture as well as collaborative features of collaborative management in hydraulic and hydropower engineering are presented.Then based on the coordination theory and BIM technology,the framework of BIM-based collaborative management system,the technology roadmap of BIM-based life cycle cooperation as well as BIM-based collaborative work model are proposed,which constitute a complete collaborative work and management system and provide a theoretical support for building collaboration platforms in the industry.(2)The implementation method of collaborative design and management for hydraulic and hydropower projects is discussed,and a collaborative design and management platform based on BIM Server is developed.The study of performances and features in available mainstream commercial and open source BIM servers is conducted,where the characteristics and requirements in design phase of hydraulic and hydroelectric engineering are discussed.On this basis,the architecture of server-based collaborative design and management system is proposed with detailed elaboration of resource configurations,key technologies as well as functional design.Based on the above platform,the general implementation process of collaborative design based on BIM Server is put forward,and the management and collaboration during design phase are realized.(3)Through integrating BIM and P6 software,the implementation method for the management and control of schedule and cost in hydraulic and hydropower engineering is discussed.Expressions of schedule and cost management information by using the IFC(Industry Foundation Classes)schema are studied,and then the integrated schedule and cost information model based on IFC is presented.Using P6 as the planning software and the information source of schedule and cost,the integration method of BIM model and P6 data is studied,and finally the connections between components and schedule/cost information are established.Further more,the implementation process of schedule and cost collaborative management is put forward,in which the tracking and analysis can be achieved through 5D BIM.(4)The method which integrates BIM model information and GIS geospatial information for the visual operation and maintenance(O&M)management of hydraulic and hydropower projects is discussed and a BIM+GIS integrated visualization platform for O&M management is developed.The idea of service oriented architecture is applied to the integration of BIM and GIS,and an integrated framework based on Web Service and Web GL is proposed with detailed explanation of key technologies.Based on this,the overall architecture and function design of the visual O&M system for hydraulic and hydropower projects are put forward,and a prototype system based on BIM+GIS is developed and implemented.In conclusion,it provides a solid foundation for the achievement of multi-level management objectives in both regional macro management as well as micro management of a single building.(5)According to the researches above,the architecture of BIM-based collaboration platform for the management of hydraulic and hydroelectric projects is introduced,with which design ideas discussed in six aspects,including demand analysis,functional design,architecture design,data center construction,interface design,and nonfunctional design.Taking the EPC general contracting project as an example,the BIM-EPC general contracting project collaboration platform is developed,and the implementation process of the application is also demonstrated combined with a specific project.
