The short pier RC shear wall structure emerging recent years is one new structure system for high-rise residence. According to the regulation for Technical specification for concrete structure of tall building, the seismic overturn moment that is bore by the core tube and common shear walls should not less than half of general bottom overturn moment of structure under the first mode. The key of developing short pier RC shear wall structure that has excellent seismic performance is the development of the short pier RC shear wall whose seismic performance is better and the development of the RC shear wall which has excellent seismic performance. It is a question to which domestic and international scholars and project circle have paid close attention very much all the time. The main contents are listed as follows: 1. Seismic performance experimental research on I-shaped short pier shear wall is done first. Low-cyclic reversed loading test on the seismic performance of 6 specimens of I-shaped short pier shear wall with 1/2 scale is presented because I-shaped short pier shear walls are destroyed the most seriously under earthquake. With three wall width-depth ratios (5.0,6.5and 8.0), the specimens have been designed in two ways: with concealed bracings and without for each width-depth ratio. Based on low-cyclic reversed loading test, the following seismic performance of the specimens have been analyzed: bearing capacity, stiffness, ductility, energy dissipation, hysteretic capacity and so on and seismic design suggestions for shear walls with concealed bracings are presented. 2. Composite shear wall with concealed steel bar-shaped steel bracings is put forward and its seismic performance experimental research is done. Low-cyclic reversed loading test on the seismic performance of 4 specimens of I-shaped shear wall with 1/3 scale is presented. The specimens have been designed in four ways: with concealed steel bar bracings, with concealed shaped steel bracings, with concealed steel bar-shaped steel bracings and without. Based on low-cyclic reversed loading test, the following seismic performance of the specimens have been analyzed: bearing capacity, stiffness, ductility, energy dissipation, hysteretic capacity and so on and seismic design suggestions for shear wall with concealed bracings are presented3. Based on the experimental research, the simplified mechanical model and the calculative formulas of the stiffness and the bearing capacity have been established.
