In this thesis, static analysis, modal analysis, seismic accelerate response spectrum analysis and dynamic time-history analysis of an engineering project are carried out by ANSYS ( FEM software). The engineering project is a tall building of 18 stories and the structure type of the building is frame structure. The height of this building is 54 meters and the planar arrangement is regular. The analysis of the building not only can put forward data and results for design and construction, but also provide some valuable analysis suggestion for the same type structure. The thesis is divided into several parts:1. After certain simplifications, static model and dynamic model can be built, which should be similar to actual building.2. Based on the calculating results of the analysis of static model under wind load and gravity, the static responses are obtained.3. Based on the calculating results of modal analysis the characteristics of the free vibration are obtained.4. Carrying out the seismic accelerate response spectrum analysis and based on the results of the modal analysis, the antiseismic behaviors of structure are obtained.5. Based on the calculating results of dynamic time-history analysis, dynamic responses of the structure under seismic wave are obtained.6. Considering the structure-soil interaction, elastic dynamic time-history analysis is carried out and the dynamic response of the structure under seismic action is obtained.According to calculating and analysis results of the structure, internal force and deformation of the structure were obtained. After comparing and analyzing conclusions are as follows:1. The rigidity of the structure is uniform, therefore torsional effects are small.2. The popular method that is considering foundation and upper structure as two individual structure ignores the interaction, so the calculating results is unreasonable. The internal force in the foundation could be larger. Based on the results of the analysis of the structure by structure-soil interaction we can conclude as follows: when making the choice of the foundation rigidity the requirement and type of the structure should be considered. In general, the analysis of the structure-soil interaction needs very huge capacity of the computer, especially for large complicated structure. Reasonable calculating methods should be taken into account.
