The hydro-pneumatic suspension (HPS) technology that appeared in 1970s is anew type of suspension. The HPS can meet the demands of ride comfort andhanding stability of the engineering vehicles because it's excellent non-linearstiffness and damping characteristics. With inert gases N2 as spring and oil as forcetranslation medium, the HPS is a kind of passive suspension which integrating thespring unit and shock absorber. As a consequence, the HPS have not onlyperformances of traditional passive suspension, but also comprehensiveperformances of slow active suspension. HPS is a key technology to develop themodern engineering vehicles, and it has enormous potential market as well as broadindustrial application prospects. This paper selects the HPS system of a practical engineering vehicle as objectfor analysis and research, and establishes the physical model of hydro-pneumaticcylinder through properly simplifying its practical structure according to itsworking elements. Depending on hydrodynamics, BWR equation of real gas andthe first law of thermodynamics etc., the thesis establishes the thermo-mechanicallycoupled model for HPS, and on the basis of the model, studies theforce-displacement characteristics, force-velocity characteristics and non-linearstiffness and damping characteristics, analyzes the affection disciplines ofparameters such as excitation parameters, structural parameters and workingparameters on characteristics of HPS system. The simulative program of the ridedynamics model of HPS system was finished with the software ofMATLAB/SIMULINK.The simulation results provide a theoretical foundation forindependently developing and designing HPS system and a basis for evaluating thewhole vehicle performance. The paper mainly includes the following contents:(1) According to the physical model and the working elements of HPS withdual gas-accumulators, depending on hydrodynamics, BWR equation of real gasand the first law of thermodynamics etc., the thermo-mechanically couplednon-linear mathematical model for HPS is built up. On the basis of the model, byuse of the simulation software programmed in MATLAB/SIMULINK, the paper...
