The QingZang railway lies in the Qing Hai_Tibet altiplane there landform was very intricate. The distribution systems inevitably experience faults from time to time. It is essential for utilities to be able to detect and locate the fault upon its occurrence. The all-line 35 KV power line may be very long because of there only a little or no power source, so the effect of shunt capacitance make fault location very difficult and complexity. The paper's study is based on this question. The paper analyzes QingZang railway distribution systems and puts forward some useful ways in theories in order to guarantee the accuracy of the power lines fault location. In this paper, the following four parts are analyzed. In the first, Using PSCAD, a simulation model of 35KV non-direct-ground neutral system was designed based on the analysis to the different run mode of QingZang railway distribution systems, and then initially validated the model's reliability. In the second, fault phase-selector was researched. In contrast to the phase selector using superimposed line current and phase-selector based on modal transformation and fault componentIn the 3rd , analyzes the principal of fault location of three phase symmetry fault and phase to phase asymmetry fault based on the different power supply operation mode, and provides two fault location methods based on impedance measurement. In different power supply mode through simulation the two methods was discussed with regard to the changes of fault types, fault distances and fault resistance. In the 4th, The arithmetic based on distributing parameter was taken into account with regard to the effect of shunt capacitance. The simulation proves that line fault component current is not equal to the current of fault resistance, and then an approximate equivalent...
