Automatic frequency control (AFC) system is used to adjust the frequency of microwave power source to match the inherent frequency of acceleratory tube. The system is one of the most key systems which guarantee stabilization of linac. Based on the analysis, a new AFC system based on self-optimizing control is proposed with the experience of experts. The paper generally analyses the basic principle of phased-locked discriminating automatic frequency control (AFC) system, and the problems faced in application. And further, a new kind of AFC system based on minimum value of reflected wave is introduced. To describe the hardware, the system frame is given; the followings are principles of circuit and the choose of circuit devices. To describe the software, we introduce something about CPLD (Complex programmable logic device) ; then we explain all kinds of software modules. At the end of the paper, the experimental is described and the experimental results are relatively agreeable with the principle. In the end of the paper, some improving methods are introduced.
