Electromagnetic flowmeter, which is based on Faraday's induction law, is a velocity-type flowmeter. On the base of analyzing the development status and trend of the electromagnetic flowmeter technology, this article uses Intel 16-Bit MCU and CPLD to design a novel intelligent electromagnetic flowmeter. This article mainly refer to system structure and hardware design. In the course of exploiting the system hardware, we adopt the low frequency rectangle wave excitation technology whose frequency is alterable, and scheme out the new signal conversion & amplifying circuit, the new LCD circuit and the new system anti-interference circuit. In order to meet system's needs, enhance system's opening, reliability and communication function, RS-485 standard bus is applied to flow measure & system.In system digital part design, we use modern design method to get more concise and more efficient circuits. All outer logic circuits of MCU are implemented in CPLD. That makes the volume of the system smaller and improve the reliability of system. Serial EEPROM 24c16 which is based on I2C interface is used in our system. We design synthesiable read/write module of serial EEPROM with Verilog HDL, and implement it in CPLD. This module can be used as IP core in other related design. Digital ASIC front-end design and verification methods is used in digital logic part design. Structured Test Bench is adopted in the verification of serial EEPROM read/write module. This technique improve the reuse ability of the test module and decrease the codes which are needed in test bench design.The development of this item will be beneficial to improving the electromagnetic flow measure technology of our country.
