The history study, the present development of porous journal bearing, the hydrodynamic theories have been introduced in the paper. Subsequently, this paper applies Brinkman Model to found a finite breadth and thin wall's lubrication theoretical model. The curves of pressure and load capacity and friction coefficient are presented.The theoretical model of porous bearing vibration is founded. The effect of structural parameters on the vibration characteristics of porous bearing is analyzed and the exciting and response characteristics of waviness is discussed.In this paper the modified testing worktable for testing the tribology performance is designed. The structure of testing worktable, the measure principle and parts of testing table are introduced. Experimental investigations of porous bearings have been carried out. Purpose of experimental investigations is to find effect of rotate speed, load, oil viscosity, additive of oil, permeability of bearing material.The results are follows:1. The results of theoretic investigations indicate that properly increasing the width and decreasing thickness of bearings can obtain better tribology performance of porous bearings. The friction parameter will be better, and vibration will be worse, when increasing eccentricity.2. The different load has great effect on the performance of porous bearings. The tribology performance is worse under dynamic load then static load.3. It is indicated that the configuration parameter obvious influence porous bearing tribology performance. The friction parameter is increasing, and the vibration is waning, when oil viscosity is increasing. The porous bearing tribology performance is worse, when permeability is increasing or waning under a certain one.4. The friction performance and the vibration performance attain the best one under a certain permeability. The friction performance is contradicted with the vibration performance under other configuration parameter.We can get a first appreciation of Porous bearing tribology performance by the study, moreover, it affords basement and reference for the investigation of Porous bearing tribology performance.This project is supported by a grant from the National Natural Science Foundation of China which the authorizing number is 50375141.
