Research And Design About A DSP System For Offline Checking The Printing Quality Of Paper Money

As a special kind of printed matter, the printing quality of paper is very strict. To avoid fakes, many countries in the world, including our country, try their best to improve the quality. Some countries have developed auto-machines to check paper money and our country has bought several ones from them.Because of the low level of printing, about 30 to 40 percent products are checked as waste. But in the current condition of our country, many of them can be used. So it is necessary to check the waste again by manual. To use the information from auto-machine, we developed a system as an assistant for manual checking.The method is that we intercept and seize the signal which is sent from the host PC to drive printer make a mark on the waste part of the big paper. Then information data created from the signal is saved in database. At the same time, a number is printed on the blank space of the big paper. The number is also the index of record for that paper.This paper first introduces the problem of checking paper money in our country, and the development of DSP.The chapter 2 introduces the design on the whole, including how to create and save the information data, how to transmit and display data, and how to input information from manual checking.The chapter 3 introduces the selection of DSP and the EVM board. Through comparing several kinds of DSP chips, we decide to use TMS320 DM642 as processor. The EVM is designed to development and debug product.The chapter 4 is the main part of this paper. It first introduces the characteristic of the printed number. Then it discusses the image processing, and at last, the recognition of the number printed on the paper money.The chapter 5 introduces the design of software.At the last this paper introduces the using of this system and provides the suggestion to improve capability of the system.
