There are more and more use cases of the visual analysis and management systems based on graphic interface in distribution network, and it becomes one of the necessary tools for the modern power companies to manage the distribution network scientifically in order to improve the reliability of power supply. As the distribution network is growing, more devices are put into use and the structure of the network is more complicated. It is a pending problem to correctly configure distribution network's graphical information and other data in computer according to the system engineering principle so that the process speed and efficiency of large distribution network can be improved. Considering distribution network's structure and operation mode, the layered structure of network, the organization form of graphic information and the topology of network have been discussed based on the father-son relationship model. At last the resolution provided in this paper has been verified by the application in actual project.(1)The layered reference model of distribution network is put forward according to its structure character and operation mode. In this model, the large distribution network with complicated structure is divided into several simple small power supply station networks which are relatively isolated. The next step is to split a power supply station network into some dendritic distribution feeders and use thefeeder as the basic unit for the distribution network research. Therefore the conflict between the processing speed and efficiency when the distribution network is getting larger and larger.(2) After the layered reference model is created, the graphic information is organized by levels in computer through mapping the distribution network device and the graphic unit one by one.(3) As levels organize the graphic information, a new concept vector branch is provided and the steps of describing the original distribution network topology by vector branch are discussed. The topology analysis method based on vector branch is the innovation on theory in this paper. This analysis method is a simple and fast calculating method, which has no dependency on the size of the distribution network.(4) Finally, applying it in the actual Distribution Network Operation Management System proves the feasibility of the resolution provided in this paper.
