Study Of Determination For The Warning Tidal Level Of Guangdong Province

Warning tidal level is the index of coastal water level, which issued for the preparation of the surge caused by typhoon when the coastal water level reaches the certain height. It plays an important role in disaster prevention for the governments. Based on the natural science, determination for the warning tidal level is involved with social and management science.The warning tidal level of Guangdong Province now in use had not been revised scientifically, only based on the then bank capacity of prevention flood and tide. The old warning tidal level is not suitable for the greatly enhancing bank prevention capacity. It is urgent for the government to determine the new warning tidal level.According to National Standard of the PRC "The methods of determining for the warning tidal level", the project has accomplished the task of collection, filing, analyse, statistics and description on Guangdong provincial coastal environment, social and economic development, geological types, historical damages related to storm surges, historical maximum tide level and information of storm surge. And then, the criterion and revise of warning tidal level of different banks has been determined according to their economic and social states respectively. Finally, we verify the figures of the report.The task accomplished not only can be of great benefit to storm surge forecasting and warning, but also can provide the coastal provincial governments with important guidance on substantial development, disaster prevention, construction planning, management of land and resources.
