This paper present a mathematical model of power system based on genetic algorithm, VAR optimization is done in which Binnan district electric network. Reality constraint conditions and the adjustment of reactive power were taken into consideration. This paper considers three running modes, i.e., maximum loads, minimum loads and common running modes to avoid the unilateral instance. This can be accord with the fact. At the same time, this paper adopts dynamic method to get the punishment factor to accelerate the speed of convergence.The problem of discrete variants in this VAR optimization is solved correctly and the calculation time is decreased. Based on the model, the computing program in C language has been developed. The computation of power flow and VAR optimization is done, and the results are believable.
