Members that subjected to biaxial bending moments and axial force are broadly used in practical projects. But few studies have been made on the flexural torsional buckling of arbitrary opened section in condition of axial force and biaxial bending moments. This paper investigates their elastic stability capacity. What's more, the elastic-plastic critical load carrying capacity of single angle column connected with one leg or with leg interlaced. This paper draws the conclusion of elastic stability theory from nonlinear differential equilibrium equation of thin-walled members, considered all the boundary condition. And we obtain the flexural displacement u_x & u_y of the shear center of the crosssection, as well as the angle of torsion φ of longitudinal axis. Thus the internal force ofcross section is derived. This paper reviews the various code design methods of single angle columns connected only by one leg, and great differences are found among them. This paper analyses the load carrying capacity of single angles using finite element method, and presents a simple formula to consider the unfavorable effect of load eccentricity caused by connection detailing, and the favorable effect of restraining provided by adjacent members. And that flakiness ratio b/t of angle leg is concerned. Moreover, the ultimate load carrying capacity of angle connected with leg interlaced is formulated in this paper. It is founded that stability of structural member is determined by flexural displacement about minor axes. A simple design formula is presented for designer.
