With the remarkable development of hydropower project in China, a series of huge power plants will be planned. Many of them are located in the southwest with complex geology and high-intensity of earthquake. The embankment dam is a very popular type in them. Then, for the embankment dam, how to strengthen the foundation's anti-earthquake property and stability by construction method? It's an important issue during the construction design.In this paper the author reviews the former fruits and foundation treatment experience home and abroad, on the case of large hydraulic project-Shuiniujia Embankment Dam, the research on vibroflotation plan is performed. The major contents are shown as the following:(1) The ability of central core material to adapt deformation and the mechanics criterion of composite foundation are studied. On the base of vibroflotation test the parameter's reasonability is judged.(2)The feasibility of vibroflotation plan is proved by test. The stability of dam and base system is checked. And the safety estimate is performed for the foundation after treatment.(3) The sensitivity analysis on material mechanics parameter is fulfilled, to confirm the foundation treatment area and feasibility.For the need of practical engineering, in this paper the author does system research on the Shuiniujia Dam, and gets some valuable fruits, which will offer some reference to this project and even much more similary projects in the future.
