Soil nailing is a new slope support technique, which has the advantages of being economical, rapid and simple during construction in comparison with other slope support techniques. It has been widely used in geotechnical engineering recently. However, the drawing results made by the present design software are mostly DXF files, so the users have to shift between the computing software and AutoCAD. There is rare software which considers the construction stage analysis. Therefore, it is very necessary to develop a convenient soil nailing CAD software that can be applied in practical engineering. Under such an engineering background, the soil nailing CAD system is developed. In this thesis, AutoCAD is taken as the graphic supporting platform and Visual C++ 6.0 which is object-oriented is employed as the developing platform. The libraries and classes provided by AutoCAD development tool-ObjectARX are applied to develop soil nailing CAD system. The goals have been achieved as follows: (1) The construction drawings of soil nailing which conform to the practical custom have been produced by the successful operation on graphic database. (2) The soft interface based on AutoCAD platform is in accord with the design habit of technicians and embodies the programming ideal of "orient to men". (3) In this thesis, the one-dimensional Brent method and golden section are adopted to search failure surface automatically. Not only the computing speed is fulfilled but also the goal of construction stage analysis is achieved . (4) Based on the stepwise analysis of program subdivision, the procedure of the modular design is illustrated specifically in the thesis. And the modularized program is further studied and discussed. The theoretic value and practical significance of the soil nailing CAD system are both proved by the tests of several engineering projects.
