The power station of NanJing Xiaguan is in the downstream of Yangzi River, which position is in conflict with the plan to develop the Bing River bang of NanJing Xiaguan, and become one restricting factor in developing areas along Yangzi River in NanJing. So the idea to replace the power station of NanJing Xiaguan wholly to the position of NanJing Madu is brought out. The duty of setting up is arranged to the power station of NanJing Xiaguan by the DaTang Company. The goods in the power station's run, such as coal, big pieces is transported by Yangzi River. The building to special dock for coal and big piece and structure for extracting and discharging water is in the need. According to relating regulations the research for flood control by the dock constructers should be made.This paper summarizes the river historical development. By means of the latest observation data of the prototype, the detailed analysis is made on the major thalweg, section, island and bottomland, the erosion the deposition of the river bed and scour hole near the dock and law of the fluvial process is obtained. The 2-D mathematical model of the water flow is set up and validated using the latest data, with which the flow and velocity of several cases is calculated. The software of MIKE 21c is used in the project to calculate flow fields and velocity in the several difference condition. At last the synthetical evaluation on the influence of the project on the flood level, velocity, river circumstances, bank protection andflood prevention is made and the conclusion that the construction of the dock had little effect on the flood discharge is obtained.
