An ever-increasing emphasis is being placed on market demand and fierce global industrial competition for manufacturing enterprise to survive and develop, and with the rapid technology advance in computer, virtual manufacturing is developed with the demands. Virtual machining process simulation is a key basic technology for virtual manufacturing. It predicts and optimize effectively to all kinds of machining information in process system composed of machine tools, work piece, cutters and jig, so that it can help realizing the real machining process intelligently. Furthermore, it is a fundamental way to research deeply mechanism of the machining process. Virtual machining simulation is mainly consist of two parts, geometry simulation and physical simulation. The research on physical simulation is not under way deeply due to the sophistic mechanism of cutting and the difficulty in modeling. But the consideration of physical factors and prediction in cutting quality is necessary and important on virtual manufacturing research.This dissertation focuses on the method of modeling and has done some attempted research based on the foundation of the predecessors achievement, which includes four chapters and the contents are as following:(1) The research status of virtual machining and virtual machining process simulation are summarized referring to the research background, and then, the main problems of current physical simulation is analyzed and the main content of this thesis is brought forward.(2) The theory formula and experience model of cutting force, cutting temperature and surface roughness are introduced in detail. The neural network model based on BP for the physical simulation of machining processes is built and the network configuration and parameter setting are discussed while modeling. Finally by training the network is trained using cutting dates, so the prediction precision of each model is compared.(3) A hybrid model integrating the analysis model and neural network model is brought forward considering the advantage and disadvantage of analysis model and neural network model. Then framework of hybrid model is established and verification experiments have been carried out to check the validity of the hybrid model.(4) The simulation system software based on hybrid model for the virtual manufacturing is developed, and the interface and function are introduced. The key technology and method are also analyzed in detail. Finally the system is checked to be true and credible.
