| As a new structural form, Retractable roof structure is the result of introducing the retractable idea into buildings. And the stadium or gym with retractable roof is becoming a leading trend recently. The exact definition of retractable roof structure is: A retractable roof structure is a type in which a part of or the entire roof structure can be moved or retracted within a short period of time so that the building can be used both in an open state or in a closed state of the roof.Based on the huge amounts of reference materials and research work on retractable roof structures already done from home and abroad, the paper presents a comprehensive understanding of retractable roof structures: classifications in different points of view of retractable roof structures;standardization of the terminology related to retractable roof structures;brief introduction of architectural feature, technology difficulty, design process, evaluation principle and so on;review the developing history and present research situation of retractable roof structures;and summarizing the research situation of retractable roof structures in China.The proper reaction force distribution of the running bogies is the most important factor for retractable roof structures, which adopt crane as driving system. The dissertation analysis the stiffness of the structure components that compose retractable roof structures, and what's more, it study the influence of the different mixture ratio of stiffness of moving roof and stiffness of fixed roof.
