An Electric Vehicle Data Recorder can record the information of control systemwhen the electric vehicle is running. Through the retrieving and analyzing of recordeddata in the EVDR, we can obtain credible failure cause and detail information of runningvehicle, which is very important to optimize the control strategy and evaluate theperformance of electrical vehicle control system.Surrounding the development goals of XL pure electric vehicle (National "863project"), this paper presents hardware and software design of the EVDR anddevelopment of a relative Data Analysis System.The hardware circuit of EVDR based on CAN bus is designed by adoptingfour-layer circuit board and full SMD technology, which can improve the anti-vibratingcapability of the device greatly. A new time sequence matching method between MUXbus and DEMUX bus is used, which resolves the operating matching problem betweenMotorola bus and Intel bus.The EVDR software based on C language and modularization concept is designed,which is convenient for the program's debugging and maintaining, and for the index andmanagement of the massive data. And the interface for expanding and upgrading of theEVDR's software functions is reserved.Three test methods for the performance evaluation of EVDR are developed: staticstate performance test, hardware in-loop performance test and actual running statusperformance test. The test procedure is performed from simpleness to profundity andfrom simulation to practice, so it forms a perfect and effective test flow of the EVDR.The relative Data Analysis System of EVDR is developed by VB software, whichcan analyze the recorded data of EVDR through the following aspects: the reliabilityanalysis of electric control system and vehicle work, the statistic analysis of driver'soperation, the character analysis of vehicle running status and analysis of CAN busstatus.The developed EVDRs have run in the developed electrical vehicles for aboutone year, and total more than 4000M data have been recorded, which has played veryimportant roles for improvement and evaluation of the vehicle's system.
