High-power diesel engines are widely used as power-supply equipment in manyfields. It is very important to enhance system's safety, cut down cost, save energy aswell as protect environment during operation. Therefore an integrated fault diagnosissystem is really required for cost-effective maintenance of diesel engines.In this paper, in order to fill this blank, an integrated practical fault diagnosissystem was researched and developed. The relationship between in-cylinder pressuredata and parameters of engine state was built up by means of establishment of heattransfer model and combustion model of diesel engines. The mathematical theory ofstatistics, fuzzing mathematics theory and expert system for working process of dieselengines were employed in data processing and engine fault recognizing. This systemconsists of a handy diagnosis device, sensors, and a PC-based data analysis andmanagement software on ground. The diagnosis device was designed based on PC104industry embedded computer bus, and it's software was developed by OOP method.The software of data processing system on ground is an expansion from the handydiagnosis device.Experiments and probations have proved that the fault diagnosis system iseffective in supervising maintenance quality and optimizing user maintenance plans.This system is also very potential in engine state tracing and fault forecasting.
