Air conditionings used in biological clean operating room can control thetemperature, humidity and airflow direction and exhaust dusts, bacteria and otherharmful gases in order to prevent the surgical site infection (SSI). In the past 50 years,researchers had done a lot of work on how to control SSIs caused by bacteria spreadin air. But no generable international standard for operating room design is availableup to now. Those advanced countries have made their national guidelines andstandards, for example, in Germany is DIN 1946/4, in Japan is HEAS-02-1998, and inU.K. is HTM2025. They think ORs should be classified based on operating conditions.Thus those standards are established in terms of the ORs are occupied. But Chinesestandard, GB50333-2002, is constitute on no person working. What's the real stationof such ORs while operating?This dissertation uses CFD to compare the risk of contaminant deposition on anclassâ… (OR). The room equipment layout and distribution is built as an existing ORand is representative of a typical newly designed OR. A range of different air changerates was considered from 45 to 91 ACH. We discuss how the environment will bewhen changes the location of the exhaust grilles and number of persons worked in it.Also we do experiments in 4 hospitals and a model room.The results show that the velocity of supply air is the major factor that influencesthe airflow pattern and bacteria concentration in surgical area. The continuous exhaustgrilles laid at the foot of two-side walls is the best style, followed by discontinuousexhaust grilles, and exhaust at four corners is worse. Personnel worked in OR aremajor contamination source for SSIs. The contamination concentration rises withnumber of person increases. The relationship between depositing bacterial andairborne bacterial concentration is unobvious in OR by analyze experimental data.Finished several completed acceptance for newly-built OR department, we finddistinguish the bacterial concentration of operating zone and surrounding zone forcompleted acceptance is unuseful.
