Load — relieving System, which has been introduced into the structure engineering, can automatically adjust and effectively provide self-protection of the structure. Consequently, it is very necessary and meaningful to research on the Load — relieving System including relieving equipment, structure type and relating computation theory, and it can further provide scientific evidences and technological support for further application.The paper, summarizing the recent research findings at home and abroad, presents three types of damping equipment, such as damping spring, pantograph and spring-bushing. The damping spring load-relieving structure was introduced in detail, and the single-layer cable load-relieving structure was improved. After describing the current computation theory of load-relieving system, the analytical method was introduced to study the characteristic of the single-layer cable load-relieving structure.The new type damping spring was applied to the latticed shell structure and damping spring load-relieving latticed shell was formed. The static and dynamic analysis of the K8 single-layer damping spring load-relieving latticed shell and double-layer cylindrical damping spring load-relieving latticed shell was carried out and the relieving effect of damping spring load-relieving latticed shell was studied.Four collocation types of damping spring bar applied to K8 single-layer latticed shell structure were introduced. The influence of relieving effect of damping spring bar collocation in the structure and mechanical behavior of damping spring load-relieving latticed shell were analyzed. Furthermore, the influence of the stiffness coefficient K of damping spring bar was discussed. Static analysis of double-layer cylindrical damping spring load-relieving latticed shell, compared with the normal latticed shell structure, the relieving effect of inner-force of elements in the structure was discussed. In conclusion, the effect of damping spring load-relieving latticed shell under the static force is excellent.The dynamical behavior of damping spring load-relieving latticed shell was further analyzed. The results were shown that the free vibration frequency and vibration mode of damping spring load-relieving latticed shell was different from the normal latticed shell structure. The general stiffness matrix and damping matrix changed with the collocation of damping spring bar. The seismic time history of the structure was analyzed. It indicated that damping spring load-relieving latticed shell under the earthquake can preferably mitigate the dynamical internal stress, but displacement of the relieving latticed shell is larger than that of the normal latticed shell structure.
