At Present, the power losses dissipation and operating temperatures of the power devices are more and more important in the power electronics field, and have more instruction effects on the practical use. The power losses of the devices are related to several parameters, such as device current, breaking voltage, gate drive voltage, gate drive resistance and operating temperature. In this thesis, a test and modeling system for the power devices switching characterization has been built up, optimized, and validated. The system can measure and save the voltage waveforms and current waveforms automatically, so does the modeling of the power loss model.The computer is the master, the software is based on LABVIEW, which performs the serial communication with the DSP via RS232 interface, and controls the oscilloscope via GPIB interface. Then, the modeling system calculates the power losses by the saved voltage waveforms and current waveforms, and gets the model of the power device. Finally, the general use and veracity of the system are validated by the experiment.
