In this paper, combining with practical engineering project, the 3D nonlinear FEM static analysis of Concrete Faced Rockfill Dam (CFRD) was performed based on analyzing the constitutive models, creep mechanism and models of rockfill, and the principles of nonlinear FEM comprehensively. And based on the principles of nonlinear FEM that considered creep effect comprehensively, some types of factors and regularity including creep effect were studied on the separation of deck from cushion. The main contents are listed as following:1. The theoretical and practical analysis on the constitutive models of the 3D nonlinear FEM was performed. The Duncan E-B model, Goodman Unit between skin plating and bedding cushion, join element was applied in the stress-strain analysis of CFRD.2. The cause of deformation and creep mechanism of fill-up component were analyzed And the theoretical and practical analysis on the creep models ofwere performed, a four element Schiffman model was selected to simulate thecreep effect of the fill-up component.3. The practical engineering project was analyzed by the 3D nonlinear FEM considering creep effect, and the valuable conclusions were approached.4. According to the result of 3D nonlinear FEM analysis, creep effect thatcaused separation of deck from cushion were analyzed and compared with several other factors .The regularities were approached by quantitative analysis.5. The further research work expected on this research project was mentioned.
